Dozens of injuries after car plow in liverpool title parade – DW – 05/26/2025

Police on Monday arrested a British man in the United Kingdom, when a car entered the crowd of people celebrating the Premier League victory of the Liverpool Football Club.

“We can confirm that the arrested person is a 53 -year -old white British person from the Liverpool region,” said the Mercesis Police. The statement posted on his website,

The incident is not terrorism, police says

Police have said that they do not think the car-roming was related to terrorism.

“We believe this is an isolated event and we are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to it,” Mersemide Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said, “The incident is not currently not being considered as terrorism.”

At least 27 people have been admitted to the hospital, two of whom have suffered serious injuries, North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) saidFour children were one of the injured, one of whom was “considered serious.”

Apart from the hospitalized people, 20 people were treated at the scene, NWAS said.

Mercestic Fire and Rescue Service said its crew found “many injured people” and had to remove four people, including a child, who were trapped under a vehicle.

Harry Rashid, who was in a parade with his wife and two young daughters, told the AP news agency that the car started rubbing people about 10 feet (3 meters) away from them.

“It was very fast,” Rashid said. “Initially, we only heard pop, pop, people were being knocked on only a car bonnet.”

Rashid said that the mob accused the vehicle and started breaking it, before the driver “just pledged through the rest of them, he was going to the bus.”

British Prime Minister Kir Strandmer shocked Liverpool’s scenes and thanked for the first response.

“Liverpool views are frightening – my views are all injured. I want to thank the policy and emergency for his fast and ongoing response to this shocking event,” Stroyer said in a post on social media platform X.

Strandmer said, “I have been put on the event and ask that we give the place the place they need to investigate.”

‘Thoughts and Prayer’ with affected people – Liverpool FC

Liverpool FC participated in an open-bus parade through the city to celebrate the season’s victory.

More than a million people were participating in the event, which was a hero on a bank holiday, meaning that most people had closed work.

The football club said it was in direct contact with the local authorities and the incident occurred towards the end of the trophy parade.

Liverpool FC said on X, “Our views and prayers are with those who are affected by this serious incident. We will continue to give their full support to emergency service and local authorities dealing with this incident.”
