Defense Minister Boris Pistrius said on Thursday that 50,000 to 60,000 additional troops need to be estimated to meet the updated defense requirements of Germany’s Army, Bundesvehar, NATO.

The Germany is trying to customize its military currency in response to NATO’s plans for collective defense, as the alliance continues its eastern flank after Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

“We believe, but it is only a rough estimate to be clear, that we require more than 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers in permanent forces compared to today,” Pistorius said at a NATO meeting in Brussels.
