Washington: There is a political battle going on in America regarding the presidential elections. Many issues have emerged in the elections. The biggest issue among these is that people are becoming vocal on abortion. This issue is emerging as a major issue in the US elections this time. “Abortion is something that a woman is removing from her body,” Donna Bidoni said while leading a group of protesters in Central Park. “This is a woman who is doing something for her body and she knows what these conditions are… so it is for the woman to have a say and decide, not the man.”
Two years ago, the United States Supreme Court overturned the ‘Roe v. Wade’ decision, resulting in 22 states banning abortion. Kamala Harris’s campaign revolves around the claim that Trump was the ‘architect’ of that Supreme Court decision, and that if he comes back to power he will impose a federal ban on abortion. It is mobilizing women voters, who constitute more than half of America’s population, in favor of Harris.

Jean, a senior citizen sitting on a bench in Central Park, says, “Abortion is a woman’s decision… Because of the laws already made, there are many women who have suffered and died because of it. It is important to care about life.” She points to the number of minors being forced to give birth in the US and the pressure that crowds of pregnant women put on medical facilities in states where abortion is banned from 2022.
Desire for first female president
American women also want the country’s first female President and say that now the time has come. Bidoni says, “I will vote for Kamla because she is a woman. “Now is the time for us to unite and help each other and vote for a woman who can represent our ideas and our identity.” However, all four of his female band members say they voted for Trump. Charo says, “We like his ideology, he is the best option for this country. Donald Trump is a better choice because he will make America great again. Trump can do it, Harris can’t.”
Jean, however, says that Kamala is her choice because she respects her. She says, “I don’t respect Trump and don’t appreciate his ideas… I would be very sad if he wins.” In Times Square, a black couple says they too will support Harris. Husband says “It’s 100% Harris… We tried Trump and he sucked. He never talked about the issues. I like Harris, she will make history. “If we get Trump again, he will give us war.” His wife says that America was ready to accept a black man as President in the form of Barack Obama, so the country is ready for a woman as well.” “Men don’t like women in power or in charge – that’s the biggest thing,” the couple told CNN-News18.
Malissa, standing in line for Broadway tickets, said the choice is very tough. She said, “I know who I will vote for… and why I will not vote for the other person. “Up until a month ago, I thought the Republicans would win, but now the Democrats are back in the race with Kamala, especially after the debate — what Trump said about eating cats and dogs made no sense.”
Ronnie, a young man from Texas who was walking in Central Park, also said it was clear America was ready for a female president. Jules told CNN-News18 “Harris is not selfish… [वह] Thinks about others. “Trump is very self-centered.”

Mark told CNN-News18 that “everything has become expensive. The economy is very bad, the border is another problem. Trump is a better choice; The situation was better during Trump’s time. “People no longer have money to buy simple and basic things, it is a nightmare right now.”
Musa, who is a rickshaw puller and guide in Central Park, said people are not happy with illegal immigrants because they are being given a lot of things for free. “Last time I voted for the Democrats, but this time I will vote for Trump. You look at the country, it’s a mess. I’m a legal immigrant myself and we need Trump. I don’t think America is ready for a female president,” he said.
However, Ronnie says that people are paying more attention to Harris. “Trump got attention after he was shot. But not now. This has never happened before – a female president. “It wasn’t Hillary Clinton, but maybe Kamala Harris,” he said.
