Suspected Minnesota shooter intends to kill other MPs – DW – 06/16/2025

A federal American Attorney said on Monday that two other state politicians were injured in the houses of two other state politicians on the shooting and killing of a Minnesota MP.

Police said Vance B, the person suspected of murder who was detained on Sunday evening.

What did the prosecutor say about the suspect’s plans?

Shooter presented as police officer

Police said that the person who submitted as a police officer shot and killed Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, former president of the Democratic House in the house of Brooklyn Park early Saturday in the Northern Miniapolis suburbs.

Prior to the arrest, officials said they had a car, and other items related to the suspected shooter. The man ran on foot in the beginning of Saturday when the authorities faced him at Hortman’s house.

Police say it was the same person who shot and injured his wife at his house nine miles (14 km), a democrat, and his wife.

According to a text message, Hoffman was undergoing surgery after hitting nine bullets, his wife sent Democrat Senator Amy Clobuhar.

“We are both incredibly lucky to be alive,” his wife, Yatete Hoffman, said in the message what was shared on social media.

What do we know about the shooter?

Friends and family of the suspected shooter said he was deeply religious and went for campaign rallies for US President Donald Trump.

In the car, officials found a local ‘No Kings’ rally for Saturday and a notebook with the names of other MPs. In this list, including abortion rights activists and healthcare officers, the Associated Press reported citing police officers.

Both Hortman and Hoffman have defended the rights of abortion in the state legislature.

Superintendent of Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Critis Drew Evans had earlier said that the suspect was not believed that he had threatened any public threat to attacks.

To inspire firing, he said, “We often want easy answers to complex problems. They will come up as we complete the complete picture of our investigation.”
