After all: Germany’s tech startups look at the new federal government with behavioral optimism. According to a current Bitkom survey of 152 founding companies, 32% expect improvements for the startup scene due to the change of politics. 41% do not expect any change, 15% fear a deterioration.
A positive signal from the point of view of the founders is the establishment of an independent Ministry of Digital: Two thirds (65%) rate this step as an important contribution to promoting young, innovative companies. “Digital policy and startup policy have to go hand in hand,” emphasizes Bitkom President Dr. Ralf Wintergerst. Startups are not only innovation drivers, but also increasingly important employers.
The most pressing demand: less bureaucracy. 96% are in favor of a simplified tax system, 87% wish you a temporary liberation of legal requirements in the first two years after the foundation. Access to public orders (90%), stronger support programs for cooperations with medium -sized companies (86%) and a simplified influx of international specialists (79%) are high on the list of priorities.
In addition, many call for better connections to universities (76%), faster foundation procedures (75%) and easier access to public data (72%). Three quarters of the respondents want politicians to communicate more offensive to start-up issues.
The results are underlining: The expectations of the new government are high-the political tailwind could be crucial to provide Germany’s startup ecosystem.
