Zoharan Mamdani, a member of the New York State Assembly, made a debut on the former New York Governor Andrew Kuoomo at Democratic Meror Primary in New York City on Tuesday.
But New Yorkers will have to wait at least a week, if not too much, to find out who wins the Democratic enrollment as Mammadani decreases to gain majority in the first round of the rank-packed voting system.
New York City uses a rank-pasin voting system, which allows voters to make their candidates to number in order of preference.
If a candidate does not earn more than 50% vote share in the initial round, the lowest vote candidate is knocked out, and the votes going to them are revived.
If a candidate does not reach 50% in the initial tally, the system calls for several rounds of vote count.
