Now the US National Transport Security Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have made a big disclosure about this incident on 5 January 2024. NTSB has made serious allegations that Boeing did not provide adequate training to the cabin crew regarding the necessary security measures in this model. After this incident, serious questions have been raised on the quality and safety standards of Boeing.
Four bolts missing from panel
According to reports, an investigation into the incident revealed that Boeing did not put four important bolts during the production production, due to which the window panel flew into the air. Boeing did not even keep any record of removing or re -installation of this window panel. Also, it was not mentioned which employees were responsible for this. NTSB has considered the incident as a serious lapse of Boeing.
Serious questions raised on Boeing’s security culture
NTSB has also raised serious questions on Boeing’s security culture. According to reports, training to Boeing staff during work was also insufficient. Boeing is now preparing a new design, which will ensure that the door panel is not closed until it is completely safe. After this accident, the US Department of Justice has ordered to start a criminal inquiry against Boeing.
After investigating this incident, NTSB has also raised serious questions on FAA. At the same time, the FAA has accepted its mistake. In June 2024, the then FAA administrator Michael Whitekar said that his agency was quite loose under the supervision of Boeing. Now the FAA has increased the number of inspectors in the plants of Boeing and its fusalate manufacturer Spirit Aerosystems. The FAA has limited the production of Max 9 plane of Boeing to 38 per month, which is still applicable.
This accident could be avoided
According to NTSB President Jennifer Homey, the accident could have been completely avoided. Boeing should have improved his safety flaws, which had been coming out in his internal audit and reports for the last 10 years. There was no casualties in this incident, it is no less than a miracle.
