New steel policy: Today two big news has come for the steel sector. The first news is that anti -dumping duty can be imposed on stainless steel seamless tubes & pipes imported from China. DGTR may soon take this decision on Vedanta’s recommendation. Describing the full news, Laxman Roy of CNBC-Awaaz said that duty is possible on stainless steel to be imported from China. The new product may cost anti -dumping duty. DGTR has issued a notification regarding new products. Vedanta demanded an inquiry from DGTR.
Apart from this, the distance news is that the draft of two new policies is ready for the steel sector. These are. New Steel Policy 2025 and Green Steel Procurement Policy. These have been sought from the concerned ministries. These policies may soon get cabinet approval.
Green Steel Procurement Policy
Under this, the purchase of green steel will be mandatory in the government tender. It is proposed to make 20 per cent of green steel mandatory mandatory. The new policy also proposes to procure according to the star rating. It is proposed to make 20 % of the procurement of 3 star steel necessary. At the same time, 5 % of the 4 % procurement of 4 star steel is proposed to be required. While 1 percent of 5 star steel is proposed to make procurement necessary.

Under the new steel policy, steel production capacity is aimed at 400 million tonnes by 2035-36. Under this, incentive will be available for the use of new technology. Hydrogen based steel production will be promoted in the new policy. The production of Electric Arc Furnace will also be promoted. Overseas Acquisition will be emphasized to increase the anniversary. Draft cabinet notes of both the steel policy are being sought from the ministries.
