Russian air strikes on Ukraine cities and towns are rapid intensity. Between 1 June and 20 June, Moscow launched 3.681 Shahehed drones and fake drones, which work to disorient Ukrainian air defense forces. A year ago, the average was around 600 in the month.
To combat these attacks, Ukraine is searching for unconventional solutions, searching as the use of interceptor drones.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the upcoming war in February 2022, Moscow has not only increased the production of drones – it has modernized them and changed the strategy of deployment.
Current drone can maneuver and fly at high altitude, which is why they cannot reach Ukrainian mobile air defense forces with machine guns.
“Recently, the Russian Federation is singing drones at a height of about 2 km,” said Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuri Ermit. “This is why it is becoming more and more difficult for our mobile units to prevent Shahed drones,” said.
“When the drones fly less, you can see them and shoot them,” Heer said. “First you find out the subject accelerately, then with the help of visual and thermal imaging cameras and viewing devices. Opening fire on them is only effective on a drone that is flying at a height of up to 1 kilometer.”
Experts have expressed an alarm in Russia’s latest strategy. Military and communication expert Seriesi Bacresnov warned on social media, “Russia is going to bomb our entry country with Shahd drone. They have greatly increased production and will continue to do so. In their views, Ukraine needs to train large -scale production and drone pilots.
Ukraine needs separate drones so that Shahds can be taken
On the front, the use of interceptor drones is anything but new. Ukrainian Army is using the first person
See, or are equipped with FPVs, drones, cameras that provide the drone pilot for some time with real -time images. Thesis drones are used against various Russian drones, including monitoring and commense models.
To destroy Shahd drone, which fly faster than many others, however, Ukraine requires special drones. For example, for example, blows at a distance of 100 to 140 kilometers per hour and Shahed drones can reach 200 to 300 kilometers, “said Seri Serry Sternanko, the leading Serry Sternank, which provides the Ukrainian army with FPV drones.
In such cases, there were requests to protect drones with different characteristics. “There are even Ukrainian-made people. Our soldiers have already shot Shahed with search drones several times,” Sternanko said.
Ukraine produced interceptor drone
For Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelanski, his country is focusing on rapid development of interceptor drones to protect cities in Nindland.
“In particular, we said at the G7 Summit in Canada on 17 June,” We are especially working on the Interceptor Drone to increase security against Shahdas. ,
Meanwhile, many Ukrainian manufacturers are already working on such drones. In particular, wild hornets, a non -profit organization that focuses on the production of drones for Ukrainian armed forces, has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to prevent Shahe and Gerbera drones with sting interceptor drones.
At the same time, the German Startup Titan Technologies is testing its own interceptor drone with the Ukrainian Army, and LVIV-based company Besomar claims that its drone can wait for two hours in the air for a target.
At the Dronaryum Academy of Kiev, future drone pilots are trained for air war. They use special simulator for Ukrainian armed forces, and each FPV drone pilot requires about a month to learn to control a drone at high speed.
Air Force spokesman Yuri Er said, “We are creating new units to cover cities in Henraland with an interceptor drone air defense system and we are training drone pilots.”
Interceptor drone is cheap
“If all the air defense groups had interceptor drones and we could use them to destroy the enemy drones,” said Besomer co-founder Roman Shemecho.
“It will be effective, because you will not be shooting in the clouds, rather chasing a target to take it instead. It is more effective than shooting in Shahed that takes place only at the height of a missile,” he said.
According to experts, interceptor drones are an appropriate option, which look at the cost of anti-airycraft missiles. According to the unmanned system forces, a branch of the Ukrainian Army which specializes in a drone warfare, an anti-aercraft missile may be priced more as $ 1 million (€ 85.4 million), while an intercepter drone costs around $ 5,000.
