Number plates: The Government of India is preparing to introduce a new rule to make the identity of hydrogen powered vehicles easier. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed a two -colored special number plate for such vehicles. This number will be of different colors depending on the type of plate vehicles. According to a draft notification issued by the ministry on Friday, hydrogen fuel -powered vehicles will soon be seen with green and blue background number plates. The color of marks on these plates will be different according to the purpose of using the vehicle.

For commercial vehicles

If a hydrogen vehicle is for commercial use, the upper half of its number plate will be green and the lower half will be blue. Points on this plate will be written in yellow color.

For private vehicles

The number plate of hydrogen vehicles for personal use will also be green and blue in color, but the marks written on it will be white.

For rent taxis

The government has proposed a black and blue number plate for the rental taxis. The upper half of these plates will be black and lower half, while the points will be written in yellow.

Why this decision was taken

This new step of the government will help easily identify hydrogen fuel -powered vehicles. This will make it easier to identify these vehicles for both officers and common people. Along with this, this initiative will also play an important role in promoting green transport in India. The government believes that such steps will encourage the use of environmentally friendly vehicles.

Now know how many types of number plates are in India?

India has different colored number plates for different types of vehicles, determined based on their category and use. Mainly the following types of number plates are used in the country:

White Number Plate: Black letters are written on this plate. It is for private vehicles of ordinary citizens (eg car, bike).

Yellow Number Plate: Black letters are written on this plate. It is used for commercial vehicles like taxi, trucks, buses and auto-rickshaws etc.

Green Number Plate: White or yellow letters are written on this plate. It is for electric vehicles, whether two -wheelers, three -wheelers or four -wheelers.

Black Number Plate: Yellow letters are written on this plate. It is for vehicles that are hired, such as self-drive cars or motorcycles. However, they are registered as commercial vehicles.

Red Number Plate: White colored letters are written on this plate. It is mainly used on vehicles of government ministries and public undertakings. The symbol of India (Ashoka Pillar) may also be made on this. It is also used on vehicles of high officials like President and Governor on which a golden colored Ashoka Pillar is made.

Blue number plate: White colored letters are written on this plate. It is for foreign diplomats and vehicles of foreign embassies.

Number plate with arrow upwards: This number is for plate military vehicles and a mark of arrows pointing up on one upwards.

BH series number plate: It is a white number plate on which ‘BH’ is written with blue color, followed by a registration number. It has been started for those whose jobs are repeatedly transferred from one state to another.
