The number of telecom subscribers in the country in May increased a slight increase and it increased to 120.7 crores. More than 99 percent of the newly created customers were added by Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. According to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the telecom service providers in the country purely added 43,58,231 new customers or subsidy in May. Both Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel added 43,51,294 customers to their network in total. This is 99.84 percent of the newly formed total Gahikas in May.
During this time, the debt -ridden Vodafone idea and public sector companies BSNL and MTNL lost customers. The total number of telecom subscribers in the country increased to 120.7 crore in May. There were 120.3 crore telecom subscribers in the country in April. In May, the landline connection increased by 3.34 percent to 3.86 crore and mobile connections increased to 116.84 crores.
Who was ahead in mobile connection
Talking about mobile customers, Reliance Jio dominated it. The company’s market share was 40.92 percent. Reliance Jio added 27 lakh new customers to the mobile subscriber base in May. Now the number of its wireless subscribers is 47.51 crores. Bharti Airtel added 2.75 lakh new customers, after which its market share increased to 33.61 percent. In May, the number of wireless subscribers of Bharti Airtel increased to 39 crores. On the other hand, Vodafone Idea lost 2.74 lakhs, BSNL 1.35 lakhs, MTNL 4.7 lakh and Reliance Communications lost 30 mobile customers in the case of mobile connections.

Wireline segment status
In the wireline segment, Reliance Jio added 12.76 lakh new customers and topped the top in May. This was followed by Bharti Airtel, which added about 99,000 new customers. Tata Teleservices added 4,890, Vodafone Idea 1,795 and STPL added 252 new customers. In May, the largest loose government company MTNL proved to be MTNL in terms of fixed line customers. This lost 66,834 fixed line customers, while BSNL lost more than 46,000 customers.
How many broadband consumers in the country
The total number of broadband consumers in the country reached 97.48 crore in May. Reliance Jio tops the broadband segment with 49.44 crore customers. This includes subscribers of both mobile and wireless segments. This is followed by Bharti Airtel, which has 30.2 crore broadband customers. Vodafone Idea has 12.66 crore, BSNL 3.43 crore and Atria Conarvance has 23.2 lakh customers. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel assigned the data of internet subscription to TRAI in the prescribed format after a 5 -month gap.
