The White House said US Secretary Marco Rubio is ready to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Malaysia on Friday.
Both are for the meeting of the Foreign Minister from the Union of Southeast Asian nations in Kuala Lumpur, or ASEAN.
At the meeting, President Donald Trump has marked the highest level of busyness in the US and China since the office resumed the office in January.
The tension between Washington and Beijing is high, as both nations confront many issues including Taiwan, trade and emerging technologies.
What’s on the agenda?
On Thursday, Wang said that the two countries were discovered as “unilateral protectionism and misuse of tariffs by a certain major country,” and called “fair and more appropriate” for international order.
US President Donald Trump has threatened several Asian countries with high taffs until he reaches a deal with him until 1 August.
After assuming office in January, Trump imposed a tariff of up to 145% on Chinese goods. The two sides carried forward the trade war by implementing the standing tetf on each other, but in May, Trump called the “total reset”.
The two superpowers are expected to discuss the island of Taiwan, which China claims as its own. The United States supports Taiwan’s right to self-governance and is its largest weapon supplier.
Rubio said he was likely to grow with Wang American concerns on Russia’s support with Wang US, which was against Ukraine.
“Chinese are clearly supporting Russian efforts and I think normal, they want to help as much as they can be caught,” Heer said.
