The German Commercial Association (HDE) welcomes the Federal Council’s request for resolution, which demands stricter consumer protection obligations and market responsibility for online platforms in trade in third countries. The aim is to ensure fair competitive conditions for European dealers. HDE Vice Stephan Tromp emphasizes that providers who sell on the European internal market must adhere to the same standards for product safety, taxes and consumer rights. The HDE sees an important step in the application for a fair digital market and calls on the Federal Government and EU to act quickly.
At the same time, the HDE warns of a dramatically growing skill in retail, especially for sales staff. Politics must now urgently adapt the framework conditions, for example by abolishing the pension with 63 and an increase in the retirement age according to the increasing life expectancy. In addition, the association calls for the expansion of all-day daycare supply until 8 p.m., also on Saturdays, as well as an optimized immigration of specialists. The HDE sees planned tax privileges for overtime and part -time leveling, since they could set incorrect incentives and impair tariff autonomy.
