Washington: The US has declared The resistance front (TRF) associated with Pakistan’s terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) as Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). TRF took responsibility for the attack on 22 April 2025 in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. Later, he denied this as tension between India and Pakistan increased. India sent its delegations to the whole world, who showed the role of Pakistan in the Pahalgam terror attack. Now it is India’s great success to put it in FTO.

The US State Ministry on Thursday issued a strong statement and announced the decision. External Affairs Minister Marco Rubio said, ‘This step shows the strict commitment of the Trump administration against terrorism. The Pahalgam attack was the deadliest attack in India after the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Declaring TRF a FTO fulfills the demand of President Donald Trump in which he spoke of justice for this attack.

What will happen with this decision?

Declaring TRF as FTO will help in breaking the back of terrorist organizations.

  • Funding closed: TRF will no longer be able to get any financial help or resources in the US. Economic restrictions will be imposed on them. Property related to them will be freeze or seized in America. This will give a big shock to their weapons, training and recruitment.
  • No-entry in America: TRF members and supporters enter the US will be completely banned.
  • Will not get help: American individuals and institutions will not be able to provide any kind of assistance to the organization named.
  • Strict restrictions: The organization will ban the sale of weapons, defense equipment and dual -use items.
  • Screws on Pakistan: This step will give India a chance to keep its point further firmly against Pakistan on global forums such as Financial Action Task Force (FATF). TRF’s relationship with Lashkar-e-Taiba will increase its difficulties.
