- Use of sugarcane sugar in place of HFCS is better for health
Sugar sugar was used for sweetness in the original formula of Coca-Cola. This practice continued till the 20th century. But the late 1970s and in the early 1980s, there was a change in the way the American cold drinks were sweetened due to some reasons. Growing global Chinese markets, quota and tariffs of the US government on imported sugar. The growing subsidy for domestic maize created an atmosphere where HFCS emerged as a cheaper option. By 1984, Coca-Cola had fully adopted the use of HFCS in the US. But different types of Ortificial sweeteners (eg aspartem) are used in variants like diet Coca-Cola.
Want ‘Mexican Coke’
HFCS remained a standard sweetener in America. Whereas sugarcane sugar continued to be used in the Coca-Cola products sold internationally. In countries like Mexico, where the fees on sugar are less restrictive and subsidy on maize is not as prevalent. Coca-Cola retained its original sugarcane Chinese formula. Over time, ‘Mexican Coke’ became a favorite product for consumers in America who believed that its taste was better. Sugar sugar -made sugar is commonly considered standard in sweetness. But a sweetener called HFCS made of corn is made from a special chemical and enzymatic process. The sweetness of which is often more than sugarcane sugar.
To create HFCS, starch is first extracted from maize. In this process called hydrolysis or enzymetic, starch is converted into glucose syrup with the help of acid hydrolysis or amylase and other enzymes. This is followed by another enzyme glucose isomers, which turns some part of glucose into fructose. The sweetness of fructose is greater than glucose or acrose. The sweetness of HFCS feels faster than sugarcane sugar. This is the reason why it is used a lot in beverages, sweets and processed foods.
HFCS is used extensively. HFCS is most commonly used in soft drinks such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi and other soda. Especially in the US and many Western countries, soy sauce, tomato sauce, catchup, salad dressing, ice cream, bakery products, donuts, cakes, cookies, breads, breakfast serials use HFCS-42. Apart from this, it falls in dairy products like flavored yogurt, yogurt, jelly, jam, jelly filling, candies and bars. The main reason for the popularity of HFCS is its low cost, human properties (catching moisture) and taste in addition to taste to increase shelf life. This is the reason why it is also used in many ‘non-dsert’ foods (such as bread or sauce).
Is it harmful or beneficial
HFCS is considered harmful from the perspective of health. Its intake can obstruct excess of calories and control of appetite. Due to which weight increases rapidly and there can be problems like obesity. HFCS can spoil the normal control of glucose and insulin in your body and increase the risk of diabetes. The fructose present in it contains metabollanes directly in the liver, causing fatty liver, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, steethaepatitis and liver damage.
Danger of heart diseases
Fructose can increase the amount of triglyceride and inflammation in the body. Due to which the risk of heart diseases increases. Research also found that excessive intake of additional sugar like HFCS increases the possibility of cancer and many chronic diseases. Consuming high fructose corn syrup can become a major cause of diabetes. These high fructose can also be the cause of many liver disorder. It increases obesity. According to web MD.com, both high-fructose corn syrup and sugar are equal to health. ”
Some experts believe that both HFCS and normal sugar (Sakrose) have almost the same effect on the body. But HFCS is hidden in processed food. Its consumption becomes more inadvertently, which increases health risk. HFCS has no direct nutrition benefits. It only improves taste, texture and shelf life of food products. Not gives your body any essential nutrition or beneficial element.
In India, Coca-Cola is mainly made from sugarcane sugar. Coca-Cola’s formula remains the same at the globally, but the most important difference is in the type of sweetener. Most of the Asian and other developing countries, including India, are used common white Chinese (Sakrose) extracted from sugarcane. Coca-Cola bottles prepared in India are prepared from local sugar sugar. Due to which it tastes a bit different from the American version.
What will be the effect on the maize lobby?
Trump’s intervention has widespread results that reach far beyond creating cold drinks. HFCS is obtained from maize, an industry that is mainly concentrated in the middle-western states of Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska. These state plays an important role in both agriculture policy and presidential politics. Mecca refiners such as Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and ingredians have benefited from agricultural subsidies and favorable laws for decades. Trump’s announcement created an immediate stir in the financial markets. After trading, the shares of ADM and Ingridian fell by 6.3 percent and 8.9 percent respectively.
America has to be healthy again
Trump’s announcement meets the goals of his health and human service department under US Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior. They have launched a campaign under the slogan to make America healthy again. The objective of this initiative is to deal with long -term diseases through changes in food, water and environmental protection. Especially focus on reducing synthetic and processed things. The objective of this initiative is to eliminate the epidemic of America’s long -term disease by focusing on the abolition of safe, nutritious food, clean water and environmental toxins. “
