Many people killed after crashing in the aircraft – DW – 07/21/2025

Officials said at least 19 people were killed and dozens were injured on Monday when a training plane of Bangladesh Air Force crashed in a school premises in Dhaka, marking the country’s deadliest aviation accident.

Bangladesh interim leader Muhammad Yunus said on X, “Those who can be confirmed to be confirmed will be handed over to their families as soon as possible.”

“To ensure uninterrupted medical operations, the general public is requested to avoid unnecessary crowds in the hospital,” hey said.

What do we know so far?

Yunse’s office said that at least 19 people were killed and more than 100 people were injured in the accident, requiring the treatment of at least 83 hospitals.

The Chinese-made F-7 BJI aircraft left for a local closing (0706 GMT) at 1:06 pm and crashed in the Milestone School and College campus soon. The educational institution is located in Uttara neighborhood and was in class at the time of student accidents. The school has students from primary to 12th standard.

Post -accident footage showed a large fire near a lawn, which emits a thick pile of smoke in the sky, as the crowd was seen from a distance.

Firefighters sprayed water on the Mangald residues of the aircraft, which appeared on the edge of a building, damaged the iron grill and created an interval hole in the structure, showed by the Reuters TV visual.

The cause of the accident is not yet known and the government said it will start in the investigation.

Bangladesh’s most deadly air accident in more than 40 years

In 1984, Bangladesh’s deadliest aviation was with an aircraft to Dhaka to Dhaka, killing all 49.

The incident of Monday, a month after the Air India plane crashed on top of the Medical College Hostel in Ahmedabad city of India, was slightly higher, killing 241 out of 242 people and 241 out of 19, causing it to become the world’s deadliest airline in a decade.
