Citizen injured as Thailand, Cambodia Business Fire – DW – 07/24/2025

On Thursday, at least three civilians were injured in the Cambodian rocket strike as its army once again clashed with Thailand in the disputed area.

Fighting fighting near two temples on the border between Surin province of Thailand and Odar Meenche in Cambodia. The two governments blame others for triggering the latest conflict.

Both nations are closed in disagreement on Emerald Triangle – an area where both countries and Laos borders are found, and many go home to ancient temples. Neighbor countries are arguing where the border should be drawn over the years.

A livestream video of Thailand’s side showed people running from their homes and hiding in a concrete bunker as the explosion occurred.

How did the clashes break?

The Thailand army has first convicted Cambodian forces for opening the fire, claiming that Cambodia targeted citizens with two BM -21 rockets, who killed a community in Cape Choing district of Surin.

It said that a unit guarding the Ta Mun Temple heard the Cambodian drone overhead. The Thai soldiers then found six armed Cambodian soldiers, in which a rocket-propelled grenade leads, which reaches a thorn-shocking fresh in front of the Thai post.

Thailand claimed that his soldiers shouted to warning him, but the Cambodian forces set fire to the eastern part of the temple close to the Thai base.

Preliminary reporting suggested that at least three people were injured and two people were killed, although it was immediately clear whether the deaths were military or citizens.

In Cambodia, Mothle said that his neighbor had violated a peace agreement and set the Cambodian army on fire.

“The Thai Army violated the regional integrity of the state of Cambodia, starting an armed attack on the Cambodian forces, which was deployed to protect the country’s sovereign region,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

“In response, the Cambodian armed forces exercised their valid rights for self -defense, according to international law to protect the sovereignty and regional integrity of Cambodia.”

The day after remembering his ambassador from Cambodia in Thailand, there were clashes and said it would exclude his counterpart, losing one limb to a landmine a week of another Thai soldier. Bangkok alleged that the landmine was placed in the disputed area.
