The European Commission found that Chinese online shopping platform Temu is not doing enough to prevent sales of illegal products.
It was found that Chinese online retail veterans were violating the rules set by the Digital Services Act (DSA).

Temu is classified as a “very large online platform” under DSA. European consumers require the world’s largest technical firms to more for online protection. Temu has an average monthly active users in the European Union.
Temu under investigation
It is weak after the European Commission started a formal investigation in Temu’s trade model in October.
The long list of complaints from the European Union Executive Branch is the major claim that Temu is exporting products to the European Union that does not comply with the standards of the block.
“We make online shopping because we believe that our single market products are safe and comply with our rules. In our initial approach, the Temu is far from assessing risks for its users on the standards required by the Digital Services Act,” Hanna Virkunen, Deputy Chairman of the European Commission.
The Commission accused the online retailer of giving fake exemption to the customer, publishing fake reviews, designing insufficient seller information and designing an intoxicated app.
Temu may respond to the allegations, but if concerns persist, the European Union may declare a DSA violation and impose a fine of up to 6% of its global annual business, although no final decision has been taken.
“Consumers’ safety is not negotiable in the online European Union – our law, including the Digital Services Act, is a better security online,” Virkkun said.
