A bus accident in eastern India released at least 18 Hindu pilgrims, a local lawmaker said on Tuesday.

The accident occurred in the city of Deoghar in India state of India.
The bus carrying pilgrims collided with a truck filled with gas cylinders, killing religious devotees.
“18 devotees lost their lives due to a bus and truck accident,” local Jharkhand MLA Nishikant Dubey wrote on the social media platform X.
Dubey is a member of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Deoghar Jharkhand is considered a sacred city for Hindus in Jharkhand and is the place of a major temple. The city receives the influx of visitors during the holy month of hearing.

Mode commented on the accident, called it a “extreme tragedy”. He expressed his “deep condolences” to the families of the victims.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that local officials are providing relief and rescue operations along with medical facilities for the injured. ” It is not clear how people survived the accident, but the Indian told that the bus has 32 seats.
