President Donald Trump on Friday announced the dismissal of the US Labor Statistics Commissioner, a few hours later the unit published its latest report on job development and economy.
Commissioner Erica MCENTARFER has been leading the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) since January 2024. The post, four -year term, is the only one in the agency that has been appointed by the President.

The bureau jobs report on Friday revealed that only 73,000 jobs were added to the US last month and there were already 258,000 less jobs in the estimated May and June.
The report suggested that the economy has weakened during Trump’s tenure.
What did Trump say?
Trump accused MCENTARFER of tampering with a job number, but proved to be no evidence to return his claims of data manipulation by BLS.
“We need the number of accurate jobs. I have instructed my team to set this fire. [Joe] Biden political appointment, immediately, “Trump said on social media platform Truth Social.

Trump said, “In my opinion, the number of today’s jobs was rigged to create a Republican, and I felt bad.”
Labor Secretary Lori Shavez-Dimer followed Trump’s leadership, it was written on X that Macantarfar was no longer leading the bureau and deputy commissioner William Viatovski, will take over as acting director.
“I support the President’s decision to change the Commissioner of Biden and ensure that the American people can rely on the important and impressive data coming from BLS,” said Chavez-Demer.

After the announcement, economists, Labor Union and Democratic Party leaders criticized the move.

He has worked professionally to produce accurate, independent data, no matter who is in power,” The National President of Federation of Government Aleret Chali said that MCENTARFER has worked in the union government for more than two decades under several administration.
New York’s Democratic Senate leader Chak Shumor said, “What does a bad leader do when they get bad news? Messenger is shot.”
“Politics of economic data is a self-proclaimed work,” said Michael Madovitz, chief economist at the Roosevelt Institute, said.
