Ukrainian capital, Kiev: Almost every day, Russia attacked the country with drones and rockets. In response, Ukraine is defending itself, including the striking target deep inside Russia. It is quite possible that thesis is being used in long distance attacks, drones produced with German discovery.
German Chancellor Frederick Merz said in late May, “This is the beginning of a new form of military-industrial cooperation among countries, which has a large ability,” when Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelancesi visited Berlin in late May.
The Defense Ministries of the two countries then signed to compromise: Germany Wood Finance Long-range weapons but they are to be produced in Ukraine. Two months later, several details about the system have not been made public. Mitko Muller, a senior spokesperson of the German Ministry of Defense, told DW at the end of July, “The process continues,” Mitko Muller told DW in late July.
In June 2024, Denmark became the first NATO member to join the Ukrainian weapon industry.
German weapons manufacturers are likely to be the most visible in Ukraine, with Rheinmetall, headquarters in Dasseldorf, for the manufacturer of weapons. The industrial giant is expanding its presence and is engaged in several joint enterprises. For example, the tanks are being constructed and repaired and a bloom factory is being built.
‘Vast changes’ in German approach
The Ukrainian Council of Defense Industry (UCDI = told DW, “We are seeing a major change in Germany’s approach to Ukraine, which is a complete opening.”
Direct investment in Ukrainian drone and missile production by the German government is still a relative innovation. As WorldA German newspaper, Germany intends to fund around 500 AN-196 Liutyi Drrones, an unlikely attack, unmanned air vehicles. Ukrainian media reports suggest that each drone costs approximately $ 200,000 (€ 175,000).
The drone was developed as a result of previous cooperation between Türkiye and Ukraine. AN-196 Liutyi “was already quite advanced in its development and testing,” the military expert Gustav Gracle explained by a senior policy partner with foreign relations on the European Council in the east. A very high ratio of these drones is shot, however, the gracele continued, as they fly quite slowly, at the same speed of comparable Russian models.
In addition to the fund, Ukraine is expecting German to know. “We lack deep techniques,” Fedirco explains, referring to state -of -the -art engineering. “This component affects the base. Germany has a thesis technology.
Currently Ukraine is asking all its colleagues for technology that will enable long distance weapons, Fedirco continued.
“We are talking about a range between 500 and 1,000 kilometers,” they explain. “Some of them [the weapons] For example, deep-stroke lute, can already achieve the target over 2,000 kilometers away. ,
German drone production in Ukraine
Many German defense company is becoming more active in Ukraine, startups, mostly located in Bavaria. An example is a quantum system, a firm that specializes in aerial data and is creating an unmanned air system to collect it.
Fedirco described it as a “best-case landscape”, the kind of cooperation Ukraine wants.
Established in 2015, Quantum System has been supplying its vector reconnaissance drone to the Ukrainian army since 2022. A special feature of the vector is that it has the ability to unload and vertical land.
“We are the only Western company producing a reconnaissance drone, where the co-intended executive officer of quantum systems, Schen Kruk, says:” In Ukraine, on the site, “Squen Crook, a co-intended executive in Quantum Systems, is called Swen Crook.” His company employs around 200 people in Ukraine, and it is growing; A second production plant is about to open in September.
In mid -July, Quantum Systems announced that it would be a Ukrainian drone manufacturer, a 10% stake in the frontline. This will be the option of sunlight of 25% stake compared to next year.
“The frontline is an expert in reconnaissance and technical solutions for the strike. Its systems are currently used by 41 military units in Ukraine,” Kruk reported. “We see the ability for cooperation, especially in the development of drone defense.” However, he said, his company has not planned to go to Combat Drone.
Combat Drone is a leg made by another German company, Helsing. The Bavarian firm has already removed thousands of drones in Ukraine and in the last February, announced a new contract for over 6,000 HX -2 strike drones. Online publishing defense industry is for Europe, HX-2 “Electrically propelled ex-wing procedure is for ammunition with a range of up to 100 km.”
Its use of advanced computing so makes it more resistant to electronic war. Helsing did not respond to DW’s inquiry and asked for more information.
However, as much as Ukrainians can be pleased about German funding and investment in drones, there is still a high supply demand.
A test ground for Ukraine weapons
Gracle argues that Ukraine requires a good quality wholesale supply. These can only be cost effective within Ukraine.
The same argument applies to missiles, discovery as Taurus cruise missiles, an weapon that is currently unlimited to the supply of German men. However, Gracle suggested that cooperation with German companies may enable some parts to supply. It can reduce Ukraine’s own neptune cruise missiles, with more energy-efficient engines that can fly on equal amounts of fuel and more accurate sensors, which will help in land-based targeting. However, a decision on such supply is yet to be made.
Germany is more inclined to invest in Ukraine, but also to share knowledge. At the beginning of the war, there were anything else that modern German technology could case in Russian hands and doubt the credibility of Ukrainian military personnel, Gracel explains. This is why Ukraine received large weapons.
But it has changed. This is partly due to the fact that Ukraine now produces modern weapons and can compete with other manufacturers.
“German companies are learning things here that you never get to simulate peacocks,” Gracle Note. For example, Ukraine’s fighter region is absolutely packed with jamming devices and air defense systems, the kind of thing you never find anywhere else, not on NATO training grounds, simulation in Germany, nor in America.
The defense industry considers it, called Gracle.
Quantum systems can confirm Crook. “Drone development is a game of cat and mouse,” he told DW. “The only theose theo site can be compatible with all continuous changes. Our insight from Ukraine directly flows into our product development, which we provide to all our customers worldwide.”
He is the job of his company as a “flagship project” in Ukraine and wants to encourage the Eathers to follow it.
Federco of UCDI wants to see this child of cooperation even further. “Germany is a distinctive European bureaucratic country,” he believes. “So it takes time to achieve things. But when the German man says they are doing something, we know Ukrainian that it will happen.”
