Relief to China, 25% extra tariff on India, US explains the reason for the first timeDonald Trump has announced to impose 25 percent additional tariffs on India for buying Russian oil.
US President Donald Trump announced to impose 25 per cent of additional tariffs on India for buying and selling Russian oil, from then on, the question arose that China is also buying oil from Russia, then why was such an action taken against India itself. Now America has finally revealed the reason for this. American Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said in a TV interview on Tuesday that India has made huge profits by purchasing oil from Russia and earned ‘billions of dollars’.

Besant said in a statement to CNBC, ‘India made huge profits during the Ukraine War and then from Russian oil. Earlier, Russia’s stake in India’s oil supply was less than 1%, which has now reached 42%. India bought this cheap oil and sold it again and made an additional profit of $ 16 billion from it. This is completely unacceptable.

Action on India, so why pity on China?

In contrast, on relieving China from American action, Besant clarified that Beijing was already dependent on Russia. He said, ‘Before the Ukraine War, 13% of China’s total oil imports came from Russia, which has now increased by only 16%. China has diversified its energy sources. But India’s case is completely different, it is only profiteering.

US President Donald Trump has decided to impose an additional 25% tariff due to purchasing Russian oil on India. With this, the total tariff on India will reach 50%, which will be applicable from the end of this month. In response to this, Russia defended India and warned Washington to desist from ‘illegal threats’.

India-China coming close

As soon as the deadline of the tariff approached, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi reached New Delhi and Indian Foreign Minister S.K. Meeting Jaishankar. Wang said that India and China should further strengthen cooperation between ‘increasing pressure and threats’.

Meanwhile, India on Tuesday tried to indicate the US that it was ready to negotiate. According to Bloomberg, New Delhi has temporarily removed 11% import duty on cotton by 30 September. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that India will never compromise on the interests of farmers. After the announcement of 50% tariff, Modi had said that India is ‘ready to pay a heavy price’. He also repeated it in the Independence Day speech.
