According to the union, the plan is for 1,200 Amazon employees from all over Germany to march through downtown Bad Hersfeld on the morning of November 29th with the support of representatives from the USA, Sweden, Great Britain and Italy. The campaign is being carried out together with the world umbrella organization of service unions Uni Global Union. Silke Zimmer from the Verdi board and Christy Hoffmann, general secretary of Uni Global Union, are scheduled to speak at a rally at midday.
Verdi regularly organizes Black Friday campaigns and has Amazon in particular in its sights. Last year, strikes took place the night before Black Friday. Employees were asked to stop work in the company’s five fulfillment centers in Koblenz, Rheinberg, Dodrtmund, Leipzig and Bad Hersfeld.
