City manager Noa Saldo said that the suspected boat suddenly stopped near the restaurant and escaped fast after firing bullets. No accused could be arrested till 10 pm. The police declared the incident as an ‘active shooter alert’ and appealed to people to stay safe in homes and immediately inform about any suspicious activity on 911. The BRARSCHW County Sheriff Office has confirmed that they are investigating the incident along with the Southport Police Department.

People started running after firing

The Sheriff Office issued a statement saying, ‘Our thoughts and sensations are with all the victims and their families. We appreciate all emergency service in this difficult time. At the time of firing, a band called ‘Bacon Greece’ was performing in the restaurant. This place is considered one of the most popular places of Southport and a large number of people often arrive here to enjoy music. After the sudden firing, people panicked and started running around to save their lives.

At present, the identity and attack of the attacker is not known. Officials say they are investigating on the basis of CCTV footage and eyewitnesses. According to local media reports, this incident has made fear in the minds of the people there. An eyewitness said, ‘We never thought that such an attack could be in our quiet area. People are still in shock. The police have sealed the area and search operation is going on in the surrounding water areas to search for the boat.
