US President Donald Trump is deploying about 200 members of California’s National Guard from Los Angeles to Portland, Pentagon said on Sunday.
In a statement, Pentagon stated that the soldiers had stood to support Oregon’s largest city “immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) and other federal personnel to support official duties, enforcement of subject law, and to protect the federal property.”
The Federal Ice Building in Portland has recently seen night protests, which have been described by local and state officials as “small and deception”. On the other hand, Trump has designed the city as a “war-exploitation”.
Why is Trump California National Guard members singing for Oregon?
The move to rub soldiers from California is an attempt to ignore a federal judge’s order on Saturday, which temporarily blocked them by deploying 200 soldiers from Oregon’s National Guard, said Oregon’s Governor Tina Kotake.
“The facts on the ground in Oregon have not changed,” Kotek said during a news conference on Sunday. “There is no need for military intervention in Oregon. No one is uncontrolled in Portland, there is no threat to national security. Oregon is our home, not military goals.”
On Saturday, District Judge Karin Emergut – appointed by Trump – disagreeed with the claims of the White House that Portland is a “war zone”, and said that the city’s “regular law enforcement forces” were able to deal with clashes.
Evergut stated that Trump’s description of Portland “is only uncontrolled for facts.” The deployment of the troupe has been blocked by at least 18 October.
California, Oregon Governor Trump disputes claims
Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, said the deployment was “frightening” and “United Nations-American”.
“It’s about power,” Newsom said on X. “He is using his own army as a political pawn to build our own ego.”
Newsom, a Democrat, first spared with Trump when the US President sent National Guard soldiers and American Marines to respond to immigration protests at Los Angeles this year.
Newsom said that members of the National Guard coming to Portland were placed under Trump’s control during unrest in Los Angeles in June.
The Governor of California vowed to fight the move in the court, urged the public to remain silent in front of such careless and ruling conduct. “
Trump then sending troops to Chicago
A day later after Illinois Governor JB Pritzkar, the announcement of the troops in Portland said that about 300 national guard members were to be sent to Chicago.
The Trump administration has designed it as a “most dangerous city in the world”, but Pritjkar has said the position in Chicago, which has seen protests against the operation of federal snow, “does not require military use.”
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump sent the National Guard to the Washington DC, where he said the crime was “out of control”, despite the claims contrary to the city officials.
Trump has sent all cities or threatened to send trips, allegedly run by Democrats to fight high crime.
