US School Shooting: 4 killed in shooting on Main Street in Leland Town, Mississippi. Suspected attacker absconding, there is an atmosphere of panic in the city.

Four people died and at least 12 were injured in this shooting that took place on the Main Street of Leyland Town. The incident occurred as Leland High School’s homecoming celebration, which included a football game and party, was underway. The sudden firing of bullets in a crowded environment turned the celebration into mourning. Mayor John Lee said that four injured have been airlifted to a nearby hospital, but their condition is still unknown. The police have arrested the accused. 19-year-old Cameron Everest Brand has been taken into custody on six counts of Aggravated Assault. According to police, Brand opened fire on the crowd during Leland’s homecoming event. The local police have confirmed that even after the arrest, the investigation is continuing and efforts are being made to find out whether Brand committed the crime alone or with the help of someone else.
Hundreds of people were present at Leland High School’s homecoming event. Suddenly at around 12 o’clock in the night the sounds of gunshots rang out. There was a stampede among the people, many people were injured and four died on the spot. According to the police, the incident happened on Main Street where a party was going on.
Mayor John Lee said, ‘This was a very sad night for our city. People did not understand what happened. He wrote on social media that the block party has been canceled immediately in view of security. This is said to be the biggest violent incident in the city with a population of about 4,000 people.
After the shooting, heavy security has been deployed in the area. The school administration also issued a statement saying that all sports and cultural programs will remain postponed for the time being.
