Melania told that she has maintained an ‘open channel of communication’ with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The purpose of this direct conversation is to reunite the children lost in the Ukraine war with their families. On Friday, Melania said that Putin had replied to her letter and informed that Russia has sent some Ukrainian children back to their families. According to Melania, ‘In the last 24 hours, eight children have been reunited with their families.’ He said, ‘Every child dreams of the same love and security that is the right of any human being. These children lost everything that was part of their childhood because of the war.
More than 19,000 children still missing
According to the Ukrainian government, about 19,500 children have been forcibly taken to Russia or its occupied territories since the war began in February 2022. These children have been separated from their families. Melania told that among the eight recently returned children, there were three who were separated from their families amid frontline fighting. He said, ‘The story of every child is full of pain, but now they have been adopted by their families.’
