Earthquake in South America: An earthquake of 7.8 magnitude occurred in the Drake Passage of South America. After this a tsunami warning was given which was later withdrawn. Earlier, an earthquake of 7.4 magnitude occurred in the Philippines.

Earthquake in South America: The earth is shaking strongly in South America. A severe earthquake has occurred in South America. The intensity of this earthquake has been measured at 7.8 on the Richter scale. People were frightened by the earthquake. Tsunami warning has been issued after the earthquake. However, this warning was later withdrawn. So far there is no news of any loss of life or property in this earthquake.
Chilean officials warned of possible impacts to its Pratt and O’Higgins military bases at the tip of Antarctica and Cape Horn, a small town on an island located at the southernmost tip of Tierra del Fuego. The earthquake struck just before 5:30 p.m. local time Friday and less than an hour later, officials withdrew tsunami warnings.
Earlier there was an earthquake in Philippines also. Two powerful earthquakes occurred on Friday at an interval of a few hours in the same area near the Southern Philippines. The first tremor of the earthquake was felt in the morning, whose intensity was measured at 7.4. At least seven people died in this. At the same time, it caused landslides, damaged hospitals and schools and due to tsunami warning, nearby coastal areas had to be evacuated. However, the tsunami warning was later withdrawn.
The initial intensity of the second earthquake was 6.8. Teresito Bacolcol, head of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, said Friday’s earthquake was felt in Manyay city of Davao Oriental province. This earthquake was caused by a movement in the Philippine Trench at a depth of 37 kilometers. It was not immediately clear whether this was a separate earthquake or an aftershock of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake.
