A man has been arrested for allegedly stalking and inappropriately touching two Australian female cricketers during the ICC Women’s World Cup in India, police said on Saturday.
Police officer Rajesh Dandotiya said, “We received a complaint from the Australian team security and we took immediate action, registered a case and identified the accused within six hours.”
According to Dandotiya, the arrested 30-year-old man has a criminal record.

The incident occurred in the central Indian city of Indore on Thursday morning, a day after Australia’s six-wicket win over England in the group stage of the ICC Women’s World Cup, which is being jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The two players were leaving their hotel and heading towards a nearby cafe when a motorcycle rider allegedly approached them.

Dandotiya said the accused followed the players, who could not be identified, and approached them “for bad touch” about 800 meters away from their hotel.

“The incident was reported to police by team security, who are handling the matter,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.
Police said they have registered a case of “inappropriate behavior and stalking” against the 30-year-old man.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devjit Saikia described the incident as “extremely regrettable and isolated”.
“We will also review our existing security protocols and strengthen them, if necessary, to ensure that such incidents do not recur,” Saikia said.
