Police in England on Sunday rejected speculation that a mass stabbing on a passenger train that left 11 people injured was a terrorist attack.
British Transport Police Superintendent John Lovelace told UK media, “At this stage, there is nothing to suggest that this is a terrorist incident.”
He further said, “At this early stage, it would not be appropriate to speculate on the reasons for the incident.”

On Saturday evening, a mass stabbing took place on a London-bound train near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, sending 11 passengers to hospital, nine of them with life-threatening injuries.
Police said on Sunday that the condition of one person was still in danger and five injured passengers had been released from hospital.
“Armed police from Cambridgeshire Police boarded the train and arrested two men in connection with the incident, who have been taken into police custody,” police said. a statement,
Lovelace confirmed the pair were detained on suspicion of attempted murder.
Later on Sunday, one of the suspects was released without charge and a 32-year-old black British man remains in custody and is the only suspect.
Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundey of British Transport Police said: “As expected, specialist detectives are investigating the background of the suspect in our custody and the events leading up to the attack.” “After viewing the train’s CCTV, the actions of the rail staff member were nothing short of heroic and undoubtedly saved lives.”
British Transport Police said the train was due to travel from Doncaster to King’s Cross, London at 6:25 pm.
