British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been charged with two additional sex crimes – one of rape and another of sexual assault, police in the United Kingdom said Tuesday.
Brand is already being investigated in April over five allegations involving four women – two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.
“These new charges relate to two further women and are in addition to the charges issued against the brand in April 2025,” London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement.
The 50-year-old will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on January 20 in relation to the brand new charges.
The trial on the earlier charges is due to begin on June 16 at Southwark Crown Court in London.
Did Russell Brand say anything?
Brand pleaded not guilty to the original charges in May and said in a social media video that he was “grateful” for the “opportunity” to defend himself.
He insisted, “I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an idiot, but what I never was was a rapist.” “I have never engaged in any non-consensual activity.”
Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqui said the women who reported Brand’s alleged behavior would “continue to receive support from specially trained officers.”
He urged “anyone affected by this matter, or anyone with information, to come forward” and do what they said would assist the ongoing investigation.
