Activists demanding justice for Bengaluru engineer Atul Subhash, who recently committed suicide, followed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s convoy in Delhi to raise their issue. The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha overheard him and responded by throwing chocolates at his car. Atul, 34, ended his life in Bengaluru on December 9, accusing his estranged wife Nikita Singhania and her family of harassment.
He also alleged in his suicide note that his wife had filed several cases against him under various sections including murder, sexual abuse, harassment for money, domestic violence and dowry.
Debate broke out on misuse of law
This case has attracted the attention of the entire country, leading to a debate on the misuse of laws meant to protect women. However, there has been no reaction from any political leader yet on this tragic matter.
Activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, who has raised the issue of misuse of anti-dowry laws, has demanded justice for Atul Subhash, saying that these laws are being misused to harass men and their families.

In the video, Bhardwaj and his fellow Congress leaders were caught on camera driving alongside Gandhi’s car. He tried to get Atul’s attention by showing him posters of Atul and calling his name. Although Gandhiji’s security personnel attempted to intervene, the group persisted in their efforts. Ultimately he was successful in drawing the attention of the leader of the opposition.
