The European Union and Australia struck a long-awaited free-trade deal on March 24. The two countries have also agreed to boost defense cooperation and access to crucial rare-earth minerals in the face of global uncertainty over trade. Speaking while visiting Australia, EU chief Ursula von der Leyen said it was necessary at a time where tariffs and supplement chains are being armed.
