Gas supply disrupted in Tehran after strike at university, Iranian state TV reports

Iran’s state broadcaster said on Monday that gas cuts were reported in parts of Tehran following an attack on a university.

“The attack occurred at the Sharif University gas station and we are experiencing a temporary gas outage in the Sharif neighborhood,” state broadcaster IRIB quoted the head of Tehran’s District 9 neighborhood as saying.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that Israel help the United States rescue a missing American service member whose fighter plane was shot down over Iran.

In a post on Twitter early Monday, Netanyahu said he had congratulated US President Donald Trump for “his bold decision and the perfectly executed US mission to rescue the downed pilot over enemy territory.”

He said, “I am deeply proud that our cooperation beyond the battlefield is unprecedented and that Israel can contribute to saving a brave American warrior.”

Democrats have sharply criticized US President Donald Trump’s threat to destroy Iran’s power plants and bridges in an expletive-laden social media post.

Senator Chris Van Hollen raised questions on Trump’s mental condition. “Trump is clearly unfit to be president,” he wrote on X.

Trump’s post was also condemned by Senator Chris Murphy, who called Trump “completely, completely out of touch.”

Senator Brian Schatz also said, “Bombing civilian infrastructure is a war crime.”
