A man was arrested Friday in connection with a Molotov cocktail attack at Sam Altman’s San Francisco home, OpenAI said.
Altman is the CEO of OpenAI, best known for its popular AI tool ChatGPIT. OpenAI said threats were also made against the company’s San Francisco headquarters.
What did OpenAI say about the Molotov cocktail attack?
The AI company expressed gratitude for the San Francisco Police Department’s response, saying, “Thankfully, no one was hurt.”
Police have not yet identified the 20-year-old man arrested for the attack. Charges have not even been filed in the case.
Altman has also not commented on the arrest yet.
According to local newspaper San Francisco ChronicleFirefighters responded to reports of a house fire just before 4 a.m. When they arrived, security guards at the property had reportedly extinguished the fire at the outer gate of the house.
Authorities told the Chronicle that the suspect who started the fire fled before firefighters arrived.

San Francisco Chronicle It was also reported that an hour after the incident at Altman’s home, police responded to a report of a man threatening to burn down the building where OpenAI is headquartered.
Police reportedly identified the man as the same person involved in the Molotov cocktail incident and arrested him.
OpenAI spokesperson Jamie Radice said the company is working with law enforcement in their investigation.
Radice said, “We deeply appreciate how quickly the SFPD responded and how much support we had from the city in keeping our staff safe. The individual is in custody.”
