The geopolitical and macroeconomic context is worsening, but bitcoin resists.
The price of oil could remain expensive until November, anticipates Donald Trump.
Bitcoin (BTC) is trading above $70,000 this Monday, April 13, 2026, as the world processes a military escalation in the Middle East: the United States announced a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian ports, effective from 10:00 am ET today.
This occurs after the failure of direct negotiations that, as reported by CriptoNoticias, took place on Saturday, April 10 in Islamabad.
Although bitcoin had a slight drop (1.2% in the last 24 hours) it still remains above the technical support of $70,000, as seen in the graph below:

The macro context is severe. US Central Command confirmed that the blockade applies “in an impartial manner to vessels of all nations” entering or leaving Iranian ports and coasts, including the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. Ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz to non-Iranian ports would not be affected, according to the military statement.
As a consequence, the price of a barrel of oil is once again positioned above $100, increasing fears about an increase in inflation worldwide.

The diplomatic situation seems far from being resolved. Iran rejected Washington’s main demands: the complete cessation of uranium enrichment, the dismantlement of nuclear facilities, the transfer of highly enriched uranium and the end of financing to Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis. Tehran also refused to fully open the Strait of Hormuz (through which a fifth of the world’s oil production passes).
Trump, for his part, noted that Oil and gasoline prices could remain elevated until the November midterm elections.
For bitcoin, the short-term scenario depends on how the tension evolves. If the blockade escalates to an armed confrontation or if oil continues to rise strongly, pressure on risk markets will increase and $70,000 could be tested more intensely. For now, the digital currency is giving a lesson in strength amid global tension. In the next few hours we will see if he can resist.
