According to local police, a shooter killed eight children in Shreveport, US state of Louisiana on Sunday.
“This is a massive scene that most of us have never seen before,” Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith told reporters.
Officials said the youngest victim was 1 year old and the oldest was 14 years old. Two adults were also reportedly shot.
Police also said that the crime scene extended to three locations.

Suspect shot while trying to escape
According to local police representative Chris Bordelon, the dispute began Sunday morning, when a man opened fire. It is believed that he acted alone.
In comments to American broadcaster NBC, Bordelon described some of the children he shot as his “descendants”.
“We believe he is the only person who fired shots at these locations,” Bordelon said.
After the shooting, the suspect tried to flee in a stolen car and was shot by police. No officers were injured during the pursuit.
State Police are asking anyone who has photos, video or information related to the incident to share it with Louisiana state authorities.
Mayor Tom Arceneaux said, “It’s a sad situation – probably the saddest we’ve ever seen.” “It’s a terrible morning.”
The city of Shreveport is the third largest city in Louisiana and is located near the state border with Texas.
