A plane carrying 181 people has crashed at South Korea’s Muan International Airport, killing at least 28, Yonhap news agency reported.
The Jeju Air flight was returning from Bangkok to Thailand and the accident occurred during landing.
According to the emergency office and local media, the landing gear malfunctioned, causing the plane to go off the runway, hit a fence and catch fire.
The emergency office said the fire had been extinguished, while rescue officials were trying to get passengers out of the plane.
Acting President of South Korea Choi Sung-mok ordered all possible rescue efforts. Choi was appointed on Friday, following the impeachment of the previous acting president amid the country’s ongoing political crisis.
