P2P Foundation published its development kit (SDK) as open source on April 21, allowing any developer to directly integrate the movement of money between the traditional fiat system and cryptocurrencies into their applications. The announcement marks a turn in the organization’s strategy, which until now concentrated all its integrations internally.
The kit, developed in TypeScript, gives access to the core functions of the protocol: order creation, pairing, settlement, queries to the reputation system and real-time updates through webhooks. This available on GitHub and in the npm package registry, and It has an active testing environment on the Sepolia Base network of Ethereum, with simulated trades.
The decision of convert your development open source responds to two limitations that the foundation itself recognizes. First, by managing all the integrations internally it became the main obstacle to its own growth. Second, relying on a single interface represented a single point of failure: if that interface stopped working, the entire system was exposed.
The protocol seeks to become infrastructure, not product
With open source, any developer can build their own interface on top of the protocol. If one goes down, another can replace it, which strengthens the system’s resistance to external interruptions or blockages.
Early use cases that builders are exploring include e-commerce payments, international remittances, payroll for contractors, collections on gaming platforms, market settlements and subscription billing in local currencies. In all cases, the goal is for the end user to not notice the underlying infrastructure.
P2P Foundation says it will support early developers with direct access to your protocol engineerspriority error resolution and integration support.
The foundation did not set a date for new integrations, but left the call open: teams interested in building on the protocol can contact them directly.
