NOLA Ready advised people to stay away from that area. New Orleans police said Wednesday they were responding to a major incident in the Bourbon Street area. It is said that a car hit a group of people, causing many people to be injured and some to die.

The city of New Orleans confirmed these numbers in a statement on its website, saying: “People were injured when a car struck a crowd of people at Canal and Bourbon Streets.” The New Orleans Police Department said in a statement that a large number of casualties were reported at Bourbon and Iberville streets, and that a vehicle may have struck people, NBC affiliate WDSU reported.
