The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Abbas Araqchi, announced this Friday, April 17, 2026, the complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz for the transit of commercial ships during the remaining time of the ceasefire with the United States.
The news has sparked an immediate bullish reaction in financial markets, boosting the price of bitcoin (BTC), which is already approaching $77,000.
Although the two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran expires next Tuesday, Iran had until now maintained the blockade of this fundamental sea route, conditioning its opening on the end of Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory.
Tehran’s decision represents a significant turn in the conflict. Until today, traffic in the Strait of Hormuz – which usually registers an average of 130 vessels per day – was reduced to a minimum due to war instability.
