Several suspects and hostages are feared inside a bank in the western German city of Sinzig, police said Friday.
An extensive cordon has been put in place, with police saying there is no threat to people outside the secure area.
Officials said one of the hostages is the driver of a cash transport vehicle.
Police said, “At present the situation is stable.”
According to media reports, a man approached the employee outside the bank, threatened him and forced him inside, it is believed that the two were in the vault area of the bank.
Authorities have sealed the entire city area and called in special forces.
