BNB Chain launches tool to create AI agents with automated payments

  • The SDK seeks to standardize identity, commerce, and execution across AI agents.

  • The system allows agents to accumulate reputation based on on-chain history.

BNB Chain announced on May 18, 2026 the mainnet launch of the BNBAgent SDK, a development kit in Python for the creation of artificial intelligence agents that can operate within cryptocurrency networks with verifiable identity, autonomous payments and persistent memory. The system uses standards such as ERC-8004 and ERC-8183, aimed at identity management, commerce and execution of tasks between agents.

The development is framed in a context where the construction of AI agents in cryptocurrency networks It is usually done using separate components. Functions such as identity, reputation, payments, escrow, coordination and storage are implemented independently, without a widely standardized common architecture.

The BNBAgent SDK is structured in various modules. The first corresponds to identity and trustbased on ERC-8004, which assigns each agent an on-chain identifier along with a reputation system derived from its activity. This scheme allows the verification and location of agents within the ecosystem.

The second module is trade and escrow, based on ERC-8183 (APEX), a standard initially promoted by the decentralized project Virtuals Protocol together with the Ethereum Foundation, as reported by CriptoNoticias. This component defines the interaction cycle between agents: task creation, funds blocking, execution, evaluation and settlement.

The system also incorporates autonomous payments through protocols such as MPP and x402, which allow machine-to-machine transactions during the execution of tasks. Added to this is a persistent memory layer based on BNB Greenfield, used to store agent history and results.

It is worth noting that BNB Chain is not the only company dedicated to these improvements: There are currently multiple approaches in development for autonomous agents in decentralized networks. Projects like Virtuals Protocol either Fetch.ai They work on their own coordination and identity infrastructures, while frameworks such as CrewAI or AutoGen focus on the orchestration of agents without natively integrating economic or reputation layers.

In summary, the adoption of the BNBAgent SDK, along with that of other similar proposals, will depend on factors such as the security of reputation mechanisms, resistance to manipulations and the management of risks associated with automated payments between agents, where possible vulnerabilities or design errors could affect the execution of tasks or the allocation of funds. For now, The sector remains in an early phase, with several proposals coexisting without a clear dominant model.
