The Sui cryptocurrency network enabled fee-free transfers for the stablecoins USDC, FDUSD, AUSD, USDY, USDB, USDsui and suiUSDe.
This functionality was announced on May 20, 2026 and has already begun to be deployed among validators and platforms integrated into the Sui ecosystem. As explained by the Sui development organization, compatible transfers now cost “0.00 dollars” for the end user.
The update works directly at the protocol level, meaning that This is not a temporary subsidy or a limited promotion, but rather a structural change in the way certain transfers operate within the network.
This implementation was accompanied by an integration with Fireblocks, a company specialized in institutional infrastructure for digital assets that, according to its data, has processed more than 14 billion dollars in transactions.
“Stablecoins are becoming a central part of global finance, but the infrastructure around them still creates unnecessary complexity,” stated Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and product director of Mysten Labs, developer of Sui.
“From the beginning we said it shouldn’t cost people fees to move their own money,” he added.
That is, the system eliminates one of the main friction points for operating stablecoins: the need to maintain a second asset solely to pay network fees.
According to Sui, this also facilitates use cases linked to automated payments, micropayments and digital financial services. The network also highlighted that it has exceeded $1 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume since August 2025.
Despite the announcement, SUI token price does not reflect positive reaction. At the time of this publication, SUI registers a weekly drop of close to 3.5%.
The drop in SUI price may even be a consequence of this announcement. Please note that this cryptocurrency will no longer be required to pay for gas, which may have a negative impact on your demand.
Furthermore, this occurs in a context where a large part of the market continues to be moved by macroeconomic and global liquidity factors. Among them, the war between the United States and Iran and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which maintains pressure on the price of oil and fuels inflationary fearsas reported by CriptoNoticias.
