A vehicle struck a group of Israeli civilians in the occupied West Bank, injuring two teenagers, according to Israeli officials.
The Israeli military reported “overwhelming attacks in the area of Gush Junction”, south of the occupied West Bank.
Israel’s national medical, ambulance and emergency service, Magen David Adom, said its medics had transported two teenage girls injured in the attack to a hospital in Jerusalem.
“Paramedics are treating a 17-year-old girl in serious condition with injuries to her limbs and a 15-year-old girl in moderate condition with facial injuries and taking them to Shaare Zedek Hospital,” the MDA said.
According to the army, the suspected attacker was killed by an Israeli soldier.
Palestinian killed at barrier
In a separate incident earlier on Sunday, a Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli forces at a concrete barrier separating the occupied West Bank from Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah said Imad Harun Ashtiyah, 26, was killed by Israeli gunfire near the town of al-Ram, north of Jerusalem.
According to a relative, Ashtiyah had attempted to climb the barrier with some others to get to Tel Aviv for work.
Large numbers of Palestinians from the West Bank often attempt to cross the barrier into Israel illegally.
According to Palestinian officials, they are largely motivated by economic hardship and loss of work permits following the Gaza War in response to a Hamas offensive in October 2023.
