France has restricted public alcohol consumption and canceled some outdoor sports events to cope with a heat wave unfurling across parts of Europe. Emergency services and military forces were also put on wildfire alert as about a third of France was placed under the national weather service’s heat red alert Sunday with temperatures expected to reach 40 Celsius in some areas.
