11 killed in civil plane crash

A civilian plane crashed on Sunday near the northeastern French city of Tomblain, killing all 11 people on board.

The French AFP news agency reported that police urged people to “strictly avoid” the area around the airport in Tomblane.

What do we know about the accident?

The plane was carrying a group of people on a skydiving trip.

According to the prefecture, those killed included five students, five instructors and 10 passengers, including the pilot.

The French interior minister was on his way to the crash site, the interior ministry said.

Yves Seguy, prefect of the Meurthe-et-Moselle region, told reporters near the crash site that authorities were collecting witness statements.
