The wedding of pop superstar Taylor Swift and American football player Travis Kelce is expected to be held at New York’s Madison Square Garden (MSG) over the upcoming US Independence Day holiday weekend, according to media reports and city permit documents.
The couple, who are both 36, have not publicly confirmed plans.
However, some reports say that the couple is already legally married. Cited Reuters New York Post Celebrity gossip column Page Six, which said the couple exchanged vows in front of “a small group of loved ones,” though the report did not specify when or where the ceremony took place.
‘Special event at MSG’
The permit for “Special Event at MSG” shows:
- Thursday, 6:30 pm: “Pre-Party Celebration” where 100 guests will begin arriving at MSG for the rehearsal dinner
- Overnight: After this complete road closure will come into effect
- Friday afternoon: Several blocks around the arena will be off limits to vehicles and partially closed to pedestrians. Access to the nearby Penn Station Transportation Center will be heavily restricted
- Friday, 5pm: The “main event” was considered to be the wedding.
- Saturday, 4 am: Cut-off time for “Main Event”
Manhattan resident Elissa Heinen told AFP it felt like a “royal wedding” for Swift fans. “She’s the greatest thing in America — like she’s our monarchy, she’s our queen, she’s everything.”
Star studded guest list expected
According to New York City records, up to 1,000 people could attend the party, with media reports describing tight security around the event.
Expected guests include celebrities Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez and Zoë Kravitz, as well as Kelce’s teammates with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Earlier, workers spent several days delivering decorations, catering supplies and equipment to the venue. Fencing and temporary structures were erected outside the field.

Festivities coincide with the Fourth of July holiday weekend, as New York also hosts Independence Day events, preparations for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, and FIFA World Cup matches.
The event is also taking place amid the heat wave in the city.
When asked about a potential Swift wedding, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said, “If you’re getting married at MSG, you’ll be inside and sober, and I think that’s a good example for the city at large.”
Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August.
