Trump warns Iran to compromise or face more attacks

US President Donald Trump said Washington held talks with Tehran on Tuesday and urged Iran to negotiate to end the conflict.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump warned that if no agreement was reached, US military action would intensify. He said Iran could face attacks on key infrastructure, including power plants and bridges.

“Next week will be very bad for them because next week the power plants will come. Next week the bridges will come,” Trump said.

He further said, “We are going to demolish all their power plants. We are going to demolish all their bridges unless they come to the table and negotiate.”

Asked how long the U.S. strikes would continue, Trump said, “They’re going to continue until I say enough is enough.”

The comments come as the US military continues military operations against Iran and Washington imposed a fresh naval blockade of Iranian ports.

US attacks Iran as conflict spreads across region

The United States has launched strikes against Iran for the fourth consecutive day, with the US military saying the latest strikes are aimed at reducing Tehran’s ability to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest operation comes as a renewed US naval blockade of Iranian ports officially goes into effect. US Central Command says ships are now barred from sailing to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas.

CENTCOM said more than 20 US Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft are currently operating in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the conflict appears to be spreading beyond Iran. According to reports, Iranian forces launched a drone attack on a military base hosting US aircraft in Jordan. The Jordanian military said it had intercepted four Iranian missiles earlier on Tuesday.

In Kuwait, explosions were heard in the capital overnight, while the country’s armed forces said they were intercepting what they described as hostile projectiles.

Iran says US blockade voids ceasefire deal

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on Tuesday said the US naval blockade has effectively ended the Pakistan-brokered agreement between the two countries.

Speaking to state television, Gharibabadi said US President Donald Trump’s move had, in his words, “destroyed the Islamabad memorandum. He said Iran no longer considers itself bound by its commitments under the agreement.

The deputy foreign minister also described the Strait of Hormuz as a matter of national security and said Tehran would defend its sovereignty over the strategic waterway.

America has again imposed naval blockade on Iran

The United States begins enforcing a naval blockade of Iranian ports.

This is the second such blockade imposed by Washington this year. It was first introduced in April amid rising tensions with Tehran and lifted in June, a day after the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict.

Before reinstating the blockade, President Donald Trump had proposed imposing a 20% tariff on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz under US military protection. He later abandoned the idea following requests from Gulf allies.

As the war escalates, Gulf countries are stuck between Iran and America.
