The claim is false. The image is neither AI-generated nor altered. We found a lot of evidence online that refutes the claim.

Several videos of Spain’s trophy lifting ceremony are available online. In this VideoTrump can be seen standing at the podium with FIFA President Gianni Infantino after handing over the FIFA World Cup trophy to the victorious Spanish team. Shortly afterward, Infantino moves to the left while Trump moves to the right of the podium.

However, as soon as Infantino realizes that Trump is in the frame, he runs to him, seemingly telling him to give the players some space. Several photographers can be seen taking pictures in the foreground.

The photo in question was cropped slightly, which removed Trump and Infantino from the frame, perhaps to focus attention on the team. Trump was standing at some distance from the players and hence is not visible in the photo. But it was not edited.
